Boudoir Inspiration - March 2025 Lingerie Issue

Thank you @Nikon4life . Your delivery of this publication is more regular than my digestive system and frankly more enjoyable. As a charter member of the OF Club, I have always wondered about how tatoos have become so mainstream in this genre of photography. I am not against tatoos in any way (many of my friends - male and female have them); however I increasingly find them somewhat distracting and often unattractive. As an Old Fart, should I just view them in the same category as makeup, hair dye and styling? Also I have wondered how they look when these models reach my age. Just curious how other p-v.c'ers see this multi-decade trend.

 

Probably yes - as most models of this particular genre are blessed with the genetics and maintain the fortitude to keep visually healthy [mentally, that's of a more individualized quality that rarely gets captured by photography]; many also view their canvas as art - as unique by choice of what's on offer.

I've personally had conversation with several women in their sixties that had alterations to poorly-chosen imprints - others who love them dearly. I'd certainly place some thought into later life landscape changes prior to putting "pen-to-paper." As an aside - I'm consistently impressed by the whites that retain their "whiteness" by artists in the UK - don't know what dyes are used, but all others just don't compare . . . but I also don't readily recall seeing any vivid white tats produced by Japanese artists (so I can't personally speak for Japan; but they are probably of excellent retention).

I used to frequent the matsuri (festivals) of old Tokyo especially those with huge portable shrines carried mainly by males dressed only in traditional loincloths no matter the chill in the air. The local yakuza who have vivid tatoos are recruited to shoulder these massive "floats".
(Not my photo. I refrained from taking photographs of my acquaintances at the time. Fear, I think.)

Their suits of ink are normally not visible underneath daily dress (note how they are designed to fit clothes) , but they take much pride in the opportunity to publicly show the work, which is the result of a very painful process. Traditionally, like many gangs of old, they were protectors and somewhat leaders of the local community. I came to know some and one leader (about 55 years of age) would begin getting skin spa treatments, dieting and physical workouts one month before the festival to ensure that his body would look its best. Lots of books out there but I regrettably have been unable to find any.
