If you just chat and don't post download links I would suggest, that you put this thread in the 'Lounge' Category.

I like pastel type of tones for refined II, I use it for my commercial work.

Ooooh Refined II is also one of my favorites.
You got any recommendations for other pastel presets? I love the soft pastel-y looking stuff

I agree with those. I haven't used those new Cobalt presets but they look so good. Would love to see them posted up here.
I still prefer Exposure to the Dehancer plugin though.

The Classic Film Presets 2021 is gorgeous. Of late though, I've started to finish my B&W or Pastel conversions in Luminar 4.3. Some of the Presets on there go a long way further than the traditional xmp/dng types can do.

And if particular about B&W Silverefex pro or DxO Film is my comfort zone.

+1 for Refined I, II, III. Their Ektar presets are also great.

An interesting thread - by all means - and one which will undoubtedly take on a route of percepto-genesis; what works for one may, or may not, work [or appeal] to another. Specific to Cobalt: remember that each camera one owns requires its requisite "base" pack in order to utilise the specific emulations offered here {on this site}. It's a minimum cost IMO if the base pack is not offered here. Just something to keep in mind.

Your time is honestly best spent to lock in to something you "know" and tweak it accordingly to your style - it's ultimately the process that defines your look. And don't dispel the subtle aspect of grain in attaining that old-film nostalgia (for those that remember large prints and their character).

Additionally - it goes without stating [but I'll do so for those that need the gentle reminder] - a good monitor and one that's calibrated makes a world of difference. And if one opts to print - well . . .

Buy (or go to your local library) some reference photo books from those photographers whose work you admire - it goes a long way in offering to aide you in a path less cluttered with choices. Or better yet - if funds can allow - try to actually purchase some prints from those artists . . .

I've gotten two over the years from Peter Turnley and the actual prints are amazing relative to their digital facsimiles . . .

But to the point of this thread - I've had good success and preference using VSCO with reference profiles using an "old" Nikon D3S - very nice renditions . . .

Old VSCO and my own custom presets.

Old VSCO had it right the first time and that's why I updated them and shared them here. Hard to beat.
